JR is a lifelong public servant, a firefighter, a dedicated Christian, and a leader in his church. His career reflects a deep commitment to faith, family, and community. For 25 years, he served with distinction in the Aberdeen Fire Department, rising through the ranks to become Captain for 15 years. In addition to his frontline leadership, JR served as Public Education Officer for 12 years, where he played a vital role in teaching fire safety and prevention to thousands of residents. He also excelled as Training Officer and took on critical budget oversight responsibilities, ensuring taxpayer dollars were used efficiently and effectively to maintain a high-performing department.

Beyond his distinguished fire service career, JR has been a strong advocate for education and youth as a former Cosmopolis School Board Member. He has lent his expertise to the Human Services Advisory Board, which supported vulnerable families and individuals in need. His regional leadership in life safety has made communities safer across the area. At the same time, his experience with the Department of Transportation and his successful background in small business and private industry have given him a well-rounded understanding of both public sector challenges and the real-world needs of working families and local employers.
